U-Tapao airport located 40 km to Pattaya. Though Utapao has international status the airport mostly operates with domestic flights. The terminal is small and equipped only with the most necessary for passengers arriving and departing for a flight. Although it is not very convenient to use Utapao as a transit airport, since there are no comfortable conditions for long waiting, it is sometimes used to transfer flights to Malaysia and other Asian countries. Utapao airport serves mostly domestic flights such as to Phuket, Chiang Mai, Udon Thani, Hat Yai, Samui, Hua Hin. Aircraft of all categories are served.
The airfield is shared by military and civil aviation.
In the early 2019, a second terminal in Utapao was opened. That increased the passenger traffic twice up to 3,000,000 people annually. New terminal started to serve international flights daily.
